Scott Ziegler
Chief Operating Officer
With the courage of a lion and a mane of hair to match, Mr. Scott M. Ziegler, 60, passed away on June 5, 2016 after a 15-year battle with renal cell cancer. He had the love and support of his family by his side. He was the loving husband of Debra Daly Ziegler.
Scott was born in New Britain, Connecticut on December 9, 1955, son of Jessie Miller Ziegler of Deland, Fla. and the late Melvin P. Ziegler. He was a graduate of Watertown High School, class of 1973 and earned his bachelor's degree in finance from the University of Connecticut in 1977.
Scott began his career in the property management and development industry with Errichetti Associates in 1980, becoming a partner in the organization. He served as the chief operating officer and president of Creative Management & Realty Co. Inc. and Bridgestone Realty Corporation. As a certified property manager (CPM) since 1988, Scott was the regional vice president of the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM). At the time of his passing, Scott was the chief operating officer for MCR Property Management Inc.
In his professional life, Scott was a talented, trusted, indispensable and hardworking individual. A graceful man, always the consummate optimist, the first one in the door with a wink or a smile, Scott will be terribly missed by his friends and colleagues. As a volunteer, Scott was an active member of the Southbury Ambulance Association (SAA) for 19 years. He became a volunteer emergency medical technician in 1977, and he was quickly prompted to crew chief. When he could no longer ride on service calls, he continued to volunteer for SAA as an executive board member, finance/secretary officer and many other roles until his passing.
Scott was also active with the Main Street Waterbury organization, a downtown revitalization effort, since its inception in 2004. He was elected to the board and served as the treasurer, but is most known for his longstanding role as the volunteer coordination for the annual Brass City Brew Fest.
As an avid golfer, Scott was a member of the Heritage Village Country Club and the AEC Golf League. He loved his time spent golfing with family and friends, and looked forward to a number of different annual golf tournaments and outings. Scott lived life with fierce optimism and a positive energy that touched everyone around him. He was committed to his family and the community.
