Michael Belfonti is the Founder and CEO of the Belfonti Companies, a group that includes a real estate development and investment company, a property management company, and a number of real estate holding companies that own properties throughout the United States and abroad. He remains in charge of the strategic planning, short-term goals and long-term objectives for all of the companies he founded.
Mr. Belfonti actively and aggressively pursues real estate opportunities throughout the United States and internationally. His group's success lies in its value added approach to real estate and in its ability to source new deals and to create value. The Belfonti group's track record attests to its ability to maximize profitability for itself and its investors. Over the past three decades, the group has owned and managed over two billion dollars of real estate assets. The current portfolio includes 3,000 residential apartment units and over 1 million square feet of other asset classes, including commercial and industrial properties. The Belfonti Companies currently have several residential and commercial development projects under construction and are also taking a number of other development sites through the entitlement process.
Mr. Belfonti received his Masters of Science in Real Estate from New York University. He is also a graduate of Harvard School of Business' "Owners & Presidents Management Program", an intensive three-year course of studies for business executives. He completed his undergraduate work at Boston University, earning a Bachelor of Science degree. Mr. Belfonti believes that education is a life-long process, not only for himself but also for his employees, which is one of the foundations of his company's success.
In addition to running his real estate business, Mr. Belfonti is also deeply involved in philanthropic efforts. He created two endowment funds at local private high schools (Notre Dame High School in West Haven, CT and Sacred Heart Academy in Hamden, CT) which provide financial assistance to students who would not otherwise be able to attend. Mr. Belfonti also supports Cheshire Academy, a non-profit college-preparatory school located in Cheshire, CT, having served on the Board of Trustees and as Chairman of the Development Committee. He is presently serving on Cheshire Academy's Board of Overseers. In the past he has also served on the Board of Directors for several worthy groups, including Junior Achievement of Connecticut, and Kids for Kids: Dancing for Life, Inc. (a non-profit group that raises funds for children's charities).
